Chapter 10: More Nightmares (OMAM Story) I fell asleep in Austin’s arms thatnight. And for the first time since I could remember…I felt safe. But no matter how safe I felt, the nightmares still came.
I opened my eyes and looked around. I wasn’t in a hospital bed…I was at home. I walked out into the living room and saw Derek on the couch, watching football.
“Where is everyone?” I asked, hoping somebody was home and it wasn’t just us.
“Out,” he answered, not even turning his head and eyes glued to the game. Like always, we were losing.
“Out…where?” I pushed.
“I dunno…” he shrugged.
“Why do you even watch this? We never win and your fantasy team doesn’t either,” I finally sneered.
Chapter 9: The Kiss (OMAM Story) I slowly opened my eyes and immediately looked to the chair on my right. Austin was there sleeping with his head on the bed, and my hand in his. My letter in his other hand.
Why is he so attached to that letter…? I don’t really understand the big deal…it can’t possibly mean that much to him. He gets shit like that all the time from so many other girls… I thought to myself. What’s so different about me?
What I did next felt like pure instinct. It felt so natural that I couldn’t help it. I took my free hand and ran it through his long, messy hair. It felt so…soft. I got lost in the feeling of how good it felt. How perfect that moment felt in my heart. I didn’t know what was wrong with me.
I got so caught up in the moment, I didn’t notice him wake up. He took my hand in his, an
Chapter 8: The End Of The Nightmare (OMAM S.) “They’ll…they’ll catch you…” I stuttered, trying to stay standing.
“How? You’re out here all alone…I was in the cafeteria…and there has been word going around of some killer preying on young girls around here…it is next to the prison after all,” he laughed.
He was right. There was no way it could be pinned on him. No way he could be caught. After all this…and he would get away with it…there would be no justice. NO! I’m not going to let that happen! No way in fucking hell!
So I took whatever adrenaline I had left, and ran. I ran back through the campus and into the atrium. One hand covering my wound, another covering my bare chest. I could hear gasps and screams around me…but I couldn’t see anyone. I already felt like I blacked out.
Chapter 6: My Worst Nightmare (OMAM S.) I woke up frantically, looking over at the clock. 9:30. I overslept.
“Fucking great…” I growled as I rolled out of the bed and rushed to get dressed. I walked out of the bedroom and looked around the small trailer home. “Hello? Anybody home?”
There was no answer. One of the three dogs trotted up to greet me. I petted her and moved on. I checked all four of the other bedrooms. All were empty. Fantastic…
“Where the fuck is everybody?!” I cried out, taking out my cell phone. One new message. I opened it. Went into town for the day. Be back later. I opened the reply window. Where’s Derek? I got a reply almost instantly. He had class today, so he’s at the school.I I just about threw my phone against the wall.
“I have class today too god fucking damn it!” I shouted. The dogs cowered to the other room. “Why the fuck wouldn’t he wake me up?! He k
Chapter 5: Confessions (OMAM S.) Since I slept well into the afternoon, we spent the rest of the evening talking about anything and everything. About our lives, our dreams…everything down to our favorite color.
“Oh green for sure!” Austin answered, laughing.
“Really? I love green,” I nodded in agreement. “But I’d have to say my favorite is red…black is a close follow up.”
“I can see why,” he grinned. “You look really good in red.”
“W…what?” I blushed slightly, completely taken back.
“The shirt you wore to the show? It was red,” he pointed out. “Of course they had to strip you down to your panties to put on the hospital garment and check for more damage. You looked pretty good then too.”
